The International Geothermal Association (IGA), founded in 1988, is a scientific, educational and cultural organization established to operate worldwide. It has more than 5,200 members in over 65 countries. The IGA is a non-political, non-profit, non-governmental organization.

The business association has set itself the target of promoting geothermal energy and representing the joint interests of the association members. For this purpose the business assiciation Wirtschaftsforum Geothermie e.V. (WFG) was founded at the end of 2006.

GtV-BV is the German Geothermal Association. The GtV-BV covers the entire range of geothermal technologies from near-surface to deep geothermal energy as well as heating and cooling and geothermal power generation.

Project Management Jülich coordinates research and innovation funding programmes i.a. in the areas of energy, materials technologies, environment and sustainability, technology transfer and start-up companies,as well as regional technology platforms and clusters.
